about

Saxeen Creek (see tracks 3 and 8 on "Tam O'shanter Remembers The Day") runs just behind the Tam O'shanter and if one were to follow it a mile to the east they'd eventually come to a small log cabin in the woods. This cabin was built by my great-grandfather without anyone's help, and now it belongs to me and my family. At the end of my family's most troubling year - the winter of 2008 - my father built a half mile long horseshoe shaped trail which extends from the west side of the cabin, deep into the woods, and then back around to the east side of the cabin. My father built this trail by himself using only his bare hands and a homemade compass.

When he finished the trail he telephoned his 4 kids from across the country and persuaded us to gather in the north woods and walk together through the path he had set for us. My older sister Catherine came from Cincinnati, newly wed and not yet pregnant with her first child. My younger brother Christopher from New Orleans, a part-time online seminary school student and substitute pastor with an interest in becoming a Saint. My younger sister Lauren from Seattle, a temporary assistant nurse to the few remaining injured and elderly victims of the South Ossetia and Somalian Wars. And I, heartbroken, lonely and very confused, came from Los Angeles.

On the evening of March 2'nd of the year 2009, as the last year's winter was finally beginning to turn, the 4 of us set out along our father's Horseshoe Trail. This project, titled "Horseshoe Trail", is a single piece divided into 3 parts and it documents and describes our fantastic journey.
